CEO Message

My name is Koichi Sato, President of SUCRECUBE Japon Inc.

Our journey began in 2008 with the founding of SUCRECUBE Technologies in France. Since then, we have spent nearly two decades engaged in international business across France, Japan, and Senegal. Starting with telecommunications and IT infrastructure, our focus has evolved to supporting electrification, digitalization, and industrialization in Africa. We are committed to shaping a new model of international cooperation led by the private sector.

In 2019, we launched the TUMIQUI Project to bring electricity and connectivity to underserved regions of Africa. That same year, we signed an MOU with Senegal’s Ministry of Health, and established a smart city partnership through another MOU with the Special Economic Zone of Sandiara in December. In January 2020, we founded our local subsidiary in Senegal, TUMIQUI JAPON SASU. Under an NDA with the Ministry of Health, we installed power and communication infrastructure at 10 health clinics. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, we also began building digital learning environments in 20 off-grid schools across the country.

By bringing light and connectivity to clinics and classrooms without electricity, we saw firsthand how “a single tool can protect life and learning.” That experience became the foundation of our mission today.

This initiative has since expanded into a broader demonstration project—leveraging solar power and reuse technology—to address climate change, create local employment, promote technology transfer, and reduce educational inequality. It directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We are now taking on a new challenge: developing autonomous and sustainable local industries in Africa by refrigerating, processing, and exporting agricultural products. By maintaining freshness through a cold chain and delivering high-value-added food products consistently to markets in Japan, Europe, and the Middle East, we aim to boost Africa’s export capacity and create a business model that returns profits and jobs to local communities.

This project is not solely focused on “selling” products. Instead, it emphasizes supporting the entire value chain—producing, processing, and delivering—within the region, with the goal of retaining profits and transferring skills locally. Starting in Senegal, we plan to expand into neighboring African countries by building a sustainable, export-oriented platform that integrates agriculture, refrigeration, food processing, education, and finance—functioning as a comprehensive infrastructure for long-term regional development.

Through my nearly 20 years of business experience in France and many encounters in Africa, I have learned that “trust between people is the starting point for everything. That is why, in this activity as well, we do not provide one-way support, but value the relationship of creating and nurturing together.

While raising funds in Japan, we will continue to develop international business that balances the global environment and the future of the region, based on the experience and network we have cultivated in France and our trust and achievements in Senegal. Please feel free to contact us if you are a company or organization interested in Africa or in co-creation.
