Many Challenges Facing Japanese-affiliated European Subsidies

We recently expanded into Japan in April 2018.
The reason for expanding was that while supporting our customers locally, the person in charge of the overseas corporation told us that they were entrusted with managing the local IT, but to be honest, they didn’t understand it and were worried.
In reality, we often found situations where local staff had installed personal or unauthorized software that would be unimaginable in Japan. Before even discussing security or system management, companies were struggling with a basic need: educating local employees about IT literacy.
However, these efforts were hindered by language barriers, a lack of effective training resources, and insufficient budgets. Many companies had been grappling with this problem for years without a clear solution.
On the other hand, from the perspective of the Japanese headquarters, it is difficult to understand the local situation. There are voices saying that they would like to check the security measures of the European base, but because they are not good at foreign languages, they just leave it alone or leave it to the local person in charge.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was Enforced in Europe

Do you know about GDPR? In May of this year, the European Data Protection Act (GDPR) came into force in Europe, and a bill has been passed that will impose huge fines of up to 2.5 billion yen or 4% of total group sales from the EU if personal information is transferred outside of Europe without permission.
In addition to the handling of personal information, security measures to prevent personal information from being accidentally leaked and employee education are also very important.

Establishing a Japanese Subsidiary with Expertise in Europe

In order to solve these issues, we are the only Japanese company based in France that knows France and Europe inside and out and directly connects Japan and Europe, in order to bring the IT environments of our European subsidiaries, which tend to be gaps in the company-wide network with our Japanese headquarters, to the same level of security measures as in Japan.
